When an unwanted desire or attachment arises and commandeers your focus, instead of trying to take it on and defeat it, take the position of observing the phenomenon as it unfolds, and make this your focus. By watching the process you will find yourself automatically set apart from the senses and their objects and attachments. Because you can’t be what you are looking at, you are automatically separated from it.

You can’t be what you can see.

Then ask yourself, “Who’s looking?”

This solution works because it is already so: You are other than nature. Nature is nature because You are being conscious of otherness. And when you sincerely ask yourself, “Who’s looking?”, you leave nature and come into your Self.
